Stinging nettle is one of our abundant local herbs that is both nutritional and healing!

In this 4 hour in-depth class we will study the science of nettles, learn techniques to make healing herbal products, and prepare culinary delights made with fresh spring nettle leaves.


This is a hands on class and you will take home herbal preparations.

 

Class Outline:

12pm: Introductions

12:20pm: Educational Talk: Stinging Nettle.

Wild crafting philosophy: Intention, quality & quantity, timing, location, & methods.

1:00pm Medicine Making: Stinging Nettle Acetract 

20 min. snack break (bring your own snacks!)

2:20pm Medicine Making: Stinging Nettle Tincture

3:20pm Cooking with Herbs: Fresh Stinging Nettle Pesto

 

Please note: Students will need to bring the following materials to class:

  • 2 wide-mouth pint jars
  • Labels (Avery labels, or masking tape with thin tip sharpie)
  • Apple Cider Vinegar (with the mother is best, Braggs is good). 16 ounces. 
  • Gloves (leather or a nitrile fingers)
